Strong is not Maya Moore. She is much “more”. She plays on instinct that is almost always correct. Her ability to perform outside and inside AND in between meaning she can trigger the offense from the post, foul line or either elbow is beyond anyone I’ve seen at UCONN maybe with the exception of Breanna. All the talk this year has been about Paige and she deserves it. But if UCONN gets the holy grail this year, it will be on Strong’s back with a nod to Griffin.
Strong has gone to another level. She is playing like Maya in the sense that I think she knows nobody on the court can match her talent, physicality and explosiveness. Iif all the players are ruthless at exploiting any and all advantages to score that are created (in other words, Maya level aggression ) this is the best and most flexible team in the country with the best coaching staff in the country. I think “pretty basketball,” as Dawn called UConn’s game — plus the extra 4 or 5 possessions AG produces a game — is gonna outscore Texas and UCLA on the way to winning it all.
